Gujarat is hazardous waste capital: StudyThe data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) show that Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh contribute to around 80 per cent of hazardous waste including heavy metals in the country. This was stated by the ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) in an official release. The ministry further stated that due to rapid industrialization and consumerist life style, anthropogenic sources of environmental pollution have also increased. 75 crore plan in pipeline for waste managementThe corporation has proposed a solid waste management plan to segregrate waste in the newly added areas of Greater Chennai. The 75-crore proposal has been sent to the state government for approval. Corporation commissioner D Karthikayen said that the money would be used for providing better facilities in existing dumpyards. "If required, the corporation will create new dumpyards in those areas" he added. After the expansion, the civic body is clearing 4,400 tonnes of waste from 426 sq km of the city every day. DuPont India aims to turn solar possibilities into realityDuPont has installed photovoltaic modules at the DuPont Knowledge Center (DKC) – the company's R&D and knowledge services centre — at Hyderabad to enable the facility to meet part of its energy requirements through solar energy. AEG Targets $687 Million of Clean-Energy Sales in 2012, FAZ SaysAEG Power Solutions BV is targeting 500 million euros ($687 million) in renewable-energy sales next year as it grows in India, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported, citing Chief Executive Officer Horst Kayser.
