Gamesa bags order for G114-2.0 MW

Gamesa continues to notch up product strategy milestones having secured the first orders to supply the G114-2.0 MW turbine in India, a model for which the worldwide orderbook already stands at over 2,000 MW. Specifically, these two contracts contemplate the installation of 92 G114-2.0 MW class S wind turbines (184 MW) in India.
With the signature of this contract, the company's global order intake in 2015 topped 3,880 MW.

Government bans energy guzzling one-star air-conditioners in the Indian market

The government has banned the sale of entry-level one-star air-conditioners in the Indian market and introduced improved energy efficiency guidelines for frost-free refrigerators. It also made it compulsory for companies to adhere to energy rating rules for hi-end inverter ACs from 2018.

Manufacturers said the move will increase the price of entry-level ACs since the starting range will be a two-star unit that are priced around Rs 3,000 more than the one-star model and cost upwards of Rs 20,000. EESL in pact with Coal India to promote energy efficiency

State-run Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has signed an agreement with Coal India Ltd (CIL) for implementation of energy efficiency projects in CIL and its subsidiaries. As per the agreement, which was signed on February 8, EESL will carry out energy efficiency projects in all CIL establishments including office buildings and mines, EESL said in a statement.

UTA researchers devise more efficient materials for solar fuel cells

University of Texas at Arlington chemists have developed new high-performing materials for cells that harness sunlight to split carbon dioxide and water into useable fuels like methanol and hydrogen gas. These "green fuels" can be used to power cars, home appliances or even to store energy in batteries.

CMC draws up plan to clean Millennium City

The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Tuesday chalked out a detailed plan to improve sanitation in the city after it performed poorly in the Centre's Swachha Sarvekshan or sanitation survey. Cuttack ranked 59th among the 73 cities surveyed in January. On a priority basis, massive awareness drive will be carried out here against open defecation.
