Ganga pollution: Centre to hold meet with village heads

With an aim of bringing down the level of pollution in Ganga, the Centre will hold a meeting with heads of all 1,657 villages situated along the river here next week.

LED bulbs procurement price falls 10% more to Rs 64.41/unit

The procurement price of LED bulbs has fallen further to Rs 64.41 from Rs 73 per unit under a government programme which could make the energy-efficient lighting more affordable.

The development follows government achieving the milestone of distributing over five crore energy-efficient LED bulbs under the domestic lighting programme.

IFFCO inches ahead in solar power generation

On the day the Union Cabinet approved amendments in Power Tariff  Policy to ensure 24X7 affordable Power for all, cooperative giant IFFCO commissioned a 235 KWP Solar Power Plant at its Phulpur unit in Uttar Pradesh.

Floating solar plant at Banasura Sagar reservoir inaugurated

Power minister Aryadan Mohammed inaugurated the state's first floating solar plant at Banasura Sagar reservoir in Wayanad on Thursday.

JBM Solar to commission power plant in Haryana by April

Ministry of Power has electrified 276 villages across the country last week (from 11th to 17th January 2016) under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna ( DDUGJY). Call for ‘Textiles Hub’ in Kolkata

TN encourages Erode textile processors to set up CETP

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has encouraged the textile processors in Erode district to establish Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) for which 50 per cent funding would come from the Central government and another 25 per cent from state government. The remaining amount would have to be borne by the units themselves, according to a national daily.

Kyocera breaks ground on 14 MW floating PV system

Japan's Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971) announced today it had started construction works for a 13.7-MW floating solar system at Chiba Prefecture.

The Chiba Yamakura Water Mega Solar Power Plant, as it is named, is being implemented in a joint venture with Century Tokyo Leasing Corp (TYO:8439) and managed through Kyocera TCL Solar LLC.

Bengaluru has still a long way to go to deal with sanitary waste disposal

With the enforcement of three-way segregation where sanitary waste, consisting of sanitary napkins, diapers and contraceptives, are disposed into a red bin, Bengaluru has become a pioneer in the segregation of sanitary waste at source in India. However, the city is still far from figuring out safe ways to deal with it. Improper disposal of sanitary waste can lead to various environmental and health risks. Five crore LED bulbs distributed, count to double in 2 months: Government

MNRE to unveil special solar zone policy in February

The ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) will next month unveil a policy for creation of special solar zones across India having an area of at least 100 sq.km.

“Next month, we will come out with a policy for developing solar zones. These zones will have an area of 10X10 km,” MNRE secretary Upendra Tripathy said at a conference in Delhi.

BS-VI emission to be enforced by April 2020: Govt

In a significant step that would drastically reduce pollution caused by vehicles, the Union government on Thursday announced it would enforce BS-VI emission norms for automobiles and auto-fuel by 2020. Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar informed a bench of Chief Justice TS Thakur and Justice R Banumathi that the government has decided to advance the earlier deadline of 2023 to 2020 for enforcement of BS-VI emission norms as well as supply of BS-VI auto fuel across India.

Japanese aid for plant to treat waste

 A Japanese team that visited the Kochi corporation on Monday extended a helping hand to the civic body in waste treatment. IBC SOLAR presents system solution for agricultural irrigation

 IBC SOLAR AG has announced that it is giving farmers the opportunity to switch to a non-toxic, low-cost and reliable water supply: expensive and high-maintenance diesel generators can now be replaced with a PV system linked to the IBC PumpController. This system can be connected via a Siemens frequency converter to existing water pumps. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for setting up over 5,000 MW of Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Projects on build, own and operate basis.
