PowerGrid seeks nod to implement smart grid planPowerGrid Corporation of India Limited (PowerGrid) has sought permission from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) to upgrade its 1,700 stations in an initiative to implement the smart-grid mechanism. “The permission is expected to come in a month,” a senior PowerGrid official told Business Line. State government plans new green building regulations for all industrial unitsThe state government will soon come out with green factory building code for industries. The industries department is working out modalities to bring out the code. An environment ministry committee has recommended improvements to the forest clearance and monitoring of clearance conditions takes place.
The committee has described "monitoring" as the "weakest link" in the "entire forest clearance process". It has provided the structure for a "transparent, effective and unbiased" system to facilitate expeditious follow up in the event that clearance conditions have not been met.
