Anert and Keltron fight it out for solar energy share

AC generators manufacturer TD Power Systems today said its wholly-owned subsidiary, D F Power Systems, has won an EPC contract worth Rs 150 crore to set up a 27 mw captive power plant in Chhatisgarh.

The scope of the contract includes setting up a 27 MW cement waste heat recovery (WHR) based captive power plant on complete EPC basis for a cement manufacturer in India, for their upcoming unit in Chhattisgarh, the company said in a statement issued here.

Environment ministry headquarters to go fully solar

 The country's first "net zero" conventional energy consumption multi-storey building - the new headquarters of the environment ministry - will be completed in Jor Bagh next month. The building will meet its annual requirement of 14 lakh units of electricity by generating solar power on the site.

The environment ministry had set this target for Central Public Works Department (CPWD), which is building the Indira Paryavaran Bhawan. CII inks MoU with National Housing Bank to promote green housing

Industry body CII today inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Housing Bank to promote adoption of energy efficient green homes in the country.

The MoU was signed between Indian Green Builidng Council (IGBC) of CII and NHB during the first edition of confernece on green apartments here today.

IFC finances Azure's rooftop solar India project

IFC, a member of World Bank, is providing $ 3 million loan to independent energy producer Azure Power's rooftop solar India project in Gujarat.

IFC's investment in the subsidiary is expected to help avoid around 3,600 tons of carbon emissions a year, Azure Power said in a statement today. 

The company is constructing a 2.5 megawatt rooftop solar project in Gandhinagar that will be connected to the state electricity grid.

Jain Irrigation shares rally over 4% on plans to sell wind power business

Shares of Jain Irrigation moved higher on reports that the company is planning to sell its wind power business to reduce debt.

ITC is powering itself up with wind farm clusters

Renewable energy contributes to over 41 per cent of the total company’s power consumption. This is poised to go up to over 50 per cent as it sets up more projects.

The company has installed wind farms with over 70 mw at sites close to their facilities and is in the process of setting up 63 mw more. New code to grant existing buildings green rating

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has launched an initiative to bring existing buildings under the green fold. A new code has been developed for the purpose. Existing non-residential buildings including office buildings, IT parks, Business Process Outsourcing companies, shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, airports and banks could be considered for conversion into green buildings.

India’s first auction of wind-farm licenses stalled after an industry lobby and a developer backed by Henderson Global Investors Ltd. filed injunctions, saying it would accelerate a 47 percent plunge in turbine installations.

India Risks Spain’s Solar Slump With Move to Cut Tariff

India’s biggest solar power-producing state is seeking to cut the subsidized rate it pays to plants by 28 percent, joining governments from Spain to Greece backtracking on clean-energy support to lower costs.

Solar case controversy hurts photo-voltaic business

 
Rising controversy over the solar fraud case has damaged the sales and market of solar photo-voltaic (PV) business in the state, say experts in the field. "Sales of solar PV products in Kerala have dipped by 75% after the controversy. Those planning to install solar-powered inverters have postponed their purchase," said K N Iyer, MD of Kraftwork Solar Pvt Ltd and VP of Kerala Renewable Energy Entrepreneurs & Promoters Association.

Shares of Reliance Power today soared by over 6 per cent after the company's 100-MW solar power project in Rajasthan received approval for carbon credits under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Jakson Power to invest Rs 750 cr on solar energy solutions

Targeting to double its revenue to Rs 2,500 crore by March 2016, Jakson Power Solutions plans to make a fresh investment of Rs 750 crore in providing solar energy solutions across India in the next three to four years.

Delhi will host trials for hybrid three-wheelers , mini-buses and buses from August as the government explores the use of alternative fuel-based transport under a policy regime expected to involve subsidies to incentivize production.

India has a market potential of €2 billion for setting up high-voltage transmission lines by 2018, France-based Alstom believes.

UPNEDA and NHPC to sign MoU for solar power plant in UP

The Uttar Pradesh government has given its approval to set up a Joint Venture company of the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), and National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), to develop the solar project in the state.

For the purpose, both the agencies will sign an MoU. The proposed 100 MW solar plant will come up in Kalpi of Jalaun district. Welspun sees solar power tariff matching thermal by 2016

With 111 MW of solar and wind power operational, Welspun Energy, the country’s largest solar energy major, will have 250 MW of solar facility online by end-December, besides 50 MW of wind power.
