Noida’s water tariff hiked up to 75%On the heels of a power tariff hike at a time when the city is facing prolonged outages, residents got another blow as Noida Authority has decided to hike water tariffs from July 1. The Authority has introduced new tariffs in different slabs, with hikes ranging from 25 per cent for rural areas to 75 per cent for upscale localities comprising high-end villas. Civic bodies get highrise solar panel deadlineCalcutta high court on Tuesday directed all civic bodies in West Bengal, including the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), to ensure that all highrises install solar panels on their roofs within the next four months. Mysore to get high-tech air-monitoring stationThe Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has identified Mysore as one of the four cities where a high-tech ambient air-monitoring station will be established.
Sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, suspended particulate matter and respirable suspended particulate matter are the major pollutants that are being currently monitored by the KSPCB in Mysore; with the station in place, they will monitor toxic pollutants as well. A spurt in the number of vehicles here has necessitated such continuous monitoring of ambient air quality.
