CEA seeks removal of 25 megawatt renewable cap on hydro projects

All hydro power projects in the country may get renewable status to boost the sector.

MNRE to soon finalise bidding norms for small hydro projects

In a bid to encourage Small Hydro Power (SHP) generation capacity addition and achieve economies of scale, the New and Renewable Energy Ministry will soon finalise guidelines for tariff-based bidding of projects.

“The ministry has invited comments on the draft guidelines for the tariff-based competitive bidding process for grid-connected SHP projects (of up to 25 MW),” an official said.

Annual storage investment to reach US$8.2 billion in 2024 - Bloomberg New Energy Finance

A new report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) details how more than US$8 billion will be invested in new-build energy storage in the year 2024, driven by an increase in deployment of behind-the-meter storage. Meanwhile, between 2016 and 2024, some US$44 billion will be invested in storage, compared to US$3.9 trillion in power generation capacity.

Solar installations in India to top 4.8 GW in 2016

India has reached 2.8 GW in solar installations year-to-date and cumulative installations have reached 8.1 GW as of August 2016, according to Mercom Capital Group report.

In its quarterly forecast, Mercom has mentioned that about 4.8 GW of solar to be installed during 2016. The solar project pipeline in India is now approximately 21 GW, with 14 GW under development and 7 GW scheduled to be auctioned.... Read more..

NABARD sanctions loan for 10 MW solar plant in Haryana

NGT Directs Closure of All Industrial Units in East Delhi Residential Locality

India to split benchmark tariff for VGF projects

India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) plans to alter the benchmark tariff for the 5GW of solar being tendered with viability gap funding (VGF) support from central government.
