Mercom forecasts 4GW in total PV installations for India in 2016

Global clean energy communications and research firm Mercom Capital Group released its quarterly update on the Indian PV market — announcing that it expects more than 4GW in total solar installations for the country during the 2016 calendar year.

Zimbabwe-India venture to build 30 MW hydro-power plant

Zimbabwe's state-owned power producer has picked a local company and two Indian firms to build a $128 million hydro-power plant to generate 30 megawatts of electricity, an official said on Tuesday.

Wind energy producers to get incentives for ‘repowering’

UP exempts LED bulbs from VAT; price to drop by Rs 12/unit

The Uttar Pradesh government has exempted LED bulbs from value added tax of 14.5 per cent, which will reduce its price from Rs 100 to Rs 88 per unit under the Centre's Domestic Efficiency Lighting Programme.

For the first time in the State, a mini-grid solar power station was commissioned at Moongilpallam, one of most remote villages in Dindigul district, to provide lighting facility to all houses, fulfilling their decades-old-dream.

Come March 31, there will be a complete ban on use of disposable glasses and plates in Manali town.

"Initially, the ban on use of disposable glasses and plates will be imposed in the main town area and only extended later to areas falling under our entire jurisdiction," Manali Municipal Council president Shabnam Tanwar said.

One in three off-grid households worldwide will use solar products by 2020, according to a new report from the World Bank and Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF).

The ‘Off-grid Solar Market Trends Report 2016’ found that there are 1.2 billion people without access to the power grid, who spend $27 billion annually on lighting and mobile-phone charging technologies using kerosene, candles, battery torches and other fossil-fuel technologies.
