Tanti Holdings sells over 96 lakh Suzlon shares for Rs 16.2 crore

Tanti Holdings, a promoter entity of Suzlon Energy, today offloaded over 96 lakh shares of the wind turbine maker for Rs 16.28 crore in the open market.

As per exchanges data, Tanti Holdings sold 96.7 lakh shares of the company valuing the deal at nearly Rs 16.28 crore. The shares were sold at an average price of Rs 16.84 apiece.

Meanwhile, foreign fund house Morgan Stanley Mauritius Company acquired 3.26 crore shares of Suzlon EnergyBSE 1.70 % for Rs 54.61 crore, the bulk deal data at the stock exchanges showed.

Power crisis good for solar power business

With power crisis expected to get worse in the state, demand for solar power plants has gone up over the last one month across the state.

Businesses are finding it tough to meet the new surge in demand as many receive almost 100 enquiries every day for installing solar power panels. Companies that were converting 10-12 enquiries a month back are supplying to over 40-50 customers lately. Demand is expected to go up further in the coming months, leading to longer waiting periods. 3,000 subsidized solar pumps for farmers

Buoyed by the success of solar water pumps in the first phase, the state government is set to roll out a number of pumps in next phase.

With farmers able to save electricity and fuel (diesel) in as many as 14 districts, the state horticulture department will be distributing 3,000 solar water pumps across the state.

Next Fuel, Inc. Signs Agreement To Conduct Coal-to-Gas Operations In India

Next Fuel, Inc. (OTCQX:NXFI), which develops and commercializes “clean” energy and related environmental technologies, announced today it has signed an agreement to conduct a pilot-scale project for enhanced production of coalbed methane (CBM) for Visat Oil-tech Private Ltd. (Visat).

Rural waste management begins in Gurgaon

Villages in Gurgaon district will be cleaner from now. The administration has begun the task of waste management in rural areas on the pattern of urban Gurgaon under " Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan" (NBA).

The household garbage collected would be taken and segregated to separate the recyclable and biodegradable from the rest. Special sheds have been erected for this purpose in villages and a pilot project has been launched in Mubarikpur village.

Maoist-hit villages in dual solar pump plan

A central plan for piped water supply through dual solar powered pumps will cover six panchayats in Saranda, with Union minister Jairam Ramesh closely monitoring progress to effect a promised turnaround at villages in the former rebel hub in West Singhbhum.

According to a report prepared by the Union drinking water and sanitation department, the panchayats ' Amjhor, Edarbari, Dobha, Charchakka, Hatibari and Kumrasol ' are all suffering from poor quality water.

After solid waste management, Mysore has shifted its focus on treating waste water.

Rural Literacy and Health Programme (RLHP), an NGO working for the welfare of slum dwellers in Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar, has been involved in treating waste water at Roopa Nagar's slum. The NGO is now aiming to spread the technology - Decentralized waste water treatment system (DEWATS), to other parts of Mysore.

Cabinet nod for two key power sector proposals

The state cabinet on Monday gave its approval for the creation of Bihar Grid Company Ltd for which an agreement would be signed between the Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd or its associate company and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), in a bid to strengthen the power transmission system in the state.

Solar industry hit by purchase obligation norms, funding issues

Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO), funding for solar projects and active participation by States are key issues that need to be addressed in Phase II of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).

Scientists develop peel-off solar cells

Researchers at Stanford University have developed what they claim as world's first peel-and-stick thin-film solar cells. The flexible solar panels can be peeled off like band-aids and stuck to virtually any surface, from papers to cell phones to window panes.

Unlike standard thin-film solar cells, peel-and-stick thin-film solar cells do not require any direct fabrication on the final carrier substrate, claim researchers.

Project not responsible for flooding: Shree Maheshwar Hydel Power Corporation Ltd

The Maheshwar project is not responsible for the flooding that took place in the villages in August this year, said Shree Maheshwar Hydel Power Corporation Ltd (SMHPCL) general manager (R&R) Asad Zafar.

"Due to natural flooding of the Narmada river, some of the villages were affected above the level of 154 meter for which the state government has compensated the affected parties. The flooding was due to the monsoons and had no connection with the Maheshwar Project," said Zafar.

Western Railway’s 1st power-saving train to run today

Western Railway (WR) will run its first pure Alternating Current (AC) train on Christmas day.

Expected to save electricity, the train, which was manufactured by Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, has one major difference from the earlier trains. Unlike suburban trains in which the electric motors are in the second, fifth, eighth and eleventh coaches, this new AC train will have these motors in the first, fifth, eighth and twelfth coaches.

MCL plans Rs 4,600 cr integrated solar plant

Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd (CIL), has unveiled a plan to invest around Rs 4,600 crore in a vertically integrated solar value chain.
