Tihar to produce green power, ties up with Bhabha Atomic Research CentreSoon, Tihar Jail will produce its own electricity. In a memorandum of understanding signed between the jail authorities and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (Barc), a Nisargruna biogas plant based on biodegradable waste will be set up in sub-jail number 2. This will convert biodegradable kitchen waste into biogas and manure and further produce electricity, said officials. India’s Aditya Birla Plans Solar Investments, Times SaysThe Aditya Birla Group plans to invest $1 billion in the next five years to develop solar power projects in India, the Economic Times newspaper reported citing Dev Bhattacharya, head of strategy. Suzlon Bags Wind Turbine Project From Surat Municipal CorpWind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy Ltd. said its Group had secured its second consecutive order from Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to set up, operate and maintain a 8.4 MW wind energy project in Gujarat.
