Project to further the uptake of hydrocarbons in India and beyondUnder a project aiming to introduce ozone and climate friendly hydrocarbon technology into the Indian market, a local manufacturer will be installing an R290 production line for room air-conditioners. By making the project results available to other manufacturers it is hoped that hydrocarbon technology will diffuse into the region. According to a recent publication, if all room air-conditioners that were introduced into the Indian market in 2010 alone used hydrocarbons, up to 17 MtCO2-eq of refrigerant emissions would be saved, on top of the energy-related emission savings.
