Clean water technology company InnoNano Research raises $18 m

InnoNano Research, a clean-water technology company incubated at IIT Madras, has received funding of $18 million from US-based Nanoholdings, an energy and water investment specialist firm. This is one of the highest funding received by a company incubated at the institute. Centre explores switch from diesel to electric mode

The central government is likely to submit before the Supreme Court a host of measures being taken to reduce vehicular pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR) and across other major cities. These include the option of converting diesel vehicles, particularly taxis, to electric ones involving Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh extra investment.

Karnataka decreases small-scale solar tariffs after PV cost reductions

The Indian state of Karnataka has revised its tariff for small-scale and rooftop solar systems downwards in the range of 25-45% in response to a reduction in the capital costs of solar.

Tata group to come up with electric vehicles

An electric car may soon be out from the stables of Tata MotorsBSE -0.18 % and its subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover. At the group's platform that recognizes the latest innovation-Tata Innovista, chief technology officer Gopichand Katragadda said that the electric car was an 'ongoing project'. Group executive council member, Mukund Rajan added that Tata Technology too has 'conceptualised' an electric car and may be working with firms outside the group for the finished product.

ACME bags solar projects in AP, Telangana

Green energy company ACME has bagged tenders for developing 200 MW solar power projects in separate tenders conducted by SECI and NTPC in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, respectively.

The company won the largest share of 150 MW out of 400 MW at fixed tariff of Rs. 4.43 per unit in addition to Viability Gap Fund of Rs. 55 lakh per MW.

Renewable energy projects have received Rs 86,000 crore investment, most of it from private sector, in the last three years with Madhya Pradesh at top garnering Rs 14,313.80 crore.

ravelling around Thailand in the 1990s, William Janssen was impressed with the basic rooftop solar heating systems that were on many homes, where energy from the sun was absorbed by a plate and then used to heat water for the home.
