Wake up, South Asia, and smell the carbon. Time and tide wait for no man.

South Asia is inured to natural disasters, both natural and man-made. But now man's excesses are provoking nature's wrath. Entire... Read more..

Buildings that control their climate, naturally

The city may feel like insides of a furnace these days, baking denizens ruthlessly as the mercury continues on its relentless climb, but then there are some cool spaces too. Mostly unnoticed, these 'cool by nature' buildings may help you change your perception about.

These are "climate homes" — offices and institutions in Ahmedabad — some even almost half a century old that have managed to cut temperatures. Step into these cool zones and you can feel a perceptible temperature drop of 9-12 degrees. In most cases this technology reduces air conditioning costs by 35-45 per cent. Built... Read more..

India not to accept any climate pact that erodes Bali Plan

As UN members meet in Bonn this month to discuss climate strategy, India has said it will not accept any pact that ''erodes'' the differentiation between rich and developing nations set forth in Bali Action Plan centred on historic responsibilities on greenhouse gas emissions.

India has submitted its position on various aspects to Ad-hoc Working Group on Long Term Co-operative... Read more..
