Units found violating pollution norms may lose power supplyPunjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) would soon initiate action against the 70 industrial units that were found flouting environmental norms during raids on their premises on Wednesday. Karnataka mulls cut in power subsidy to farmersThe power-starved Karnataka is mulling the possibility of reducing subsidised power to farmers and meter the power supplied to irrigation pump sets (IPs). 'Power Grid to invest Rs 5.8Kcr on upgradation work in Guj'Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) will invest Rs 5,800 crore for upgrading itsnetwork in Gujarat over the next three to four years, its ED D K Singh has said. "Power Grid will invest Rs 5,800 crore in Gujarat to increase the number of Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations to 12 from the existing five. "It will also be used for increasing the transmission capacity to 19,000 mega volt ampere (MVA) from the existing 4,000 MVA. Ten per cent power hike likely for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana residentsThe Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has asked both state governments to submit a fresh proposal clarifying their commitment to supplying free power to the agricultural sector.
