TIDCO to facilitate establishment of solar power parks in 2013-14The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation plans to facilitate formation of solar power parks, for a total capacity of 1000 MW, with private players in 2013-14. The Industries Minister, P. Thangamani, told the Assembly on Friday that the total investment required to start these parks was estimated around Rs. 9000 crore. Schools to get biogas plantsThe Department of Agriculture is working on a project to equip all government and aided schools in Kerala with biogas plants to generate cooking gas. Minister for Agriculture K.P. Mohanan said here on Thursday that the project was conceived as a mechanism for waste disposal at source. Secretariat to tap solar power soonWith a view to promote solar power as a way out to ease the power crisis, the state government has decided to install solar panels on rooftops and parking lots in D and H Blocks of the state Secretariat on a pilot basis. Local companies may get little role in the next phase of solar missionThe government has rebuffed the pleas of the domestic manufacturers of solar cells and modules to protect them from a flood of imports.
