Mahindra Group sees 500-Mw opportunity in solar powerThe Mahindra group, which forayed into the solar power sector three years ago, said it could add another 500 megawatts (Mw) over the next 24-36 months. This opportunity, however, was not restricted to the projects it had won under the tariff-based bidding as part of the National Solar Mission, the company added. Gas swap pact between Gujarat, AP will help generate 1500 MW: CEAThe Central Electricity Authority today said a gas swap arrangement between power-surplus States such as Gujarat and a gas-starved State such as Andhra Pradesh will help generate an additional 1500 MW. “Gujarat is power surplus and some of the units are being shut down. Hyundai reviewing solar power option for plant in IndiaTamil Nadu's crippling power problems is prompting some of its bigger industrial players to look for off-the-grid alternatives. Suzlon Energy Raises $647 Million via Bonds Backed by State Bank of IndiaThe U.S. dollar bonds that are due in five years were issued by the wind-turbine maker's Dutch unit AE Rotor Holding B.V., Suzlon said in a press release. The bonds, priced at par, carry a coupon of 4.97% and has been provisionally rated Baa2 by Moody's. Suzlon sells bonds worth $650 millionWind turbine maker Suzlon Energy Ltd has sold $650 million (around Rs.3,575 crore) worth of bonds backed by lenders, including State Bank of India, to refinance its existing debt, according to three people close to the development. AE-Rotor Holding BV, a unit of Suzlon Energy, has closed the bond issue on Monday.
